Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849) byl významný polský hudební skladatel a klavírní virtuos období romantismu. Je často nazýván „básníkem klavíru“, protože téměř celou svou tvorbu zasvětil tomuto nástroji. Chopin se narodil v obci Żelazowa Wola nedaleko Varšavy, ale většinu svého života strávil v Paříži, kde také předčasně zemřel na tehdy neléčitelnou tuberkulózu.
